As a member of the newly formed Goodwill Young Professionals Council, I found myself a few weeks ago at one of the Goodwill locations in Arlington with a fun mission to accomplish. The directives were: ‘pull women’s and men’s clothing, find name brand items in good shape and summer ‘it’ colors’…add shoes, belts, ties and purses and we’ll be good to go.’ Two hours later, we had several racks with all the desired items ready to go. Another two weeks later, I found some of my favorite items that I picked hanging on the racks at the coolest new Pop Up shop in town- ‘Edited by Goodwill’ housed at the Pepco Edison Place Art Gallery located in Chinatown.
I had the chance to check out the Pop Up shop last night along with many local fashion bloggers and other friends of Goodwill DC. A savvy shopper proclaimed ‘we women are the only species who manage to shop and sip wine at the same time’. Indeed, there was a lot of sipping but much more shopping- so much in fact, that I had to give up the sipping altogether in order to score items from the many color coordinated racks.
With a little help from friend and fashion blogger Brea Ellis of ‘What I Wore: Tip to Toe’, each outfit was evaluated and deemed very appropriate for purchase. My items included a J Crew skirt, BCBG lime colored heels and Ann Taylor shorts but I left a lot of good stuff on the racks for…you!
You have 3 days to shop the ‘edited’ items- Wednesday August 1st- Friday August 3rd ( 12pm-7pm) so get your Goodwill on, today!
